Sometimes An Idol isn’t Made of Wood or Stone...

       Sometimes an idol isn’t made of wood or stone. Sometimes, an idol can be a desire. That desire maybe good, but it can become bad when it threatens to  take the place of God or take His place in our lives.

I’ve always idolized relationships. I’ve always yearned deep in my heart for a husband one day. Page upon page I’ve written of poems just lamenting on my singleness as though it were a wicked curse.

Sometimes an idol can be a genuine and divinely-given desire that has been misplaced and given a higher place than it should.

Today I surrender and confess before God Almighty. May no desire, regardless of motive, lay claim to the throne that only You can sit on and rule.
